GSC Forum Guidelines

As part of our commitment to support safeguarding professionals in schools around the world, the GSC Forum (Google discussion group) is intended to be a safe, inclusive, and accessible virtual space for all GSC members to ask questions, receive feedback, and share resources.  Below is a set of GSC Forum Guidelines to ensure this collaborative space remains an accessible, useful, and supportive place to grow and learn together.

Please note: All resources and advice shared must be considered within the scope of host country local laws and your own school’s context.
Advice and resources shared within the GSC are for educational purposes only and are not legal or professional counsel.

Please:

  • Do not post questions regarding specific allegations or ongoing safeguarding cases to the GSC Forum.  Questions or advice regarding an allegation or managing a specific case should be sent directly to support@globalsafeguardingcollaborative.org.  The nuances and legal complexities of these situations (given local laws, individuals involved, and specific school contexts) are best considered and responded to on an individual basis.  We are available to help and connect you with the proper resources if you are facing a difficult situation or need support yourself.  Please reach out if you need help.

  • Be intentional with the use of reply all to make sure messages shared this way are sent to the appropriate audience.  Reply all can be a powerful factor in determining whether information shared is seen and considered by all members or dismissed as just more email in a person’s inbox.  As an educational organization, we value the use of reply all - it has the potential to keep us all informed and engaged in important conversations and has allowed valuable support to be shared within our community.

  • If an individual or situation is referenced in your post, ensure confidentiality (no names, no identifiable characteristics).

  • When posting to the GSC Forum, also consult the resources available on the GSC Resources webpage, as well as the resources on the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) Education Portal As an educational organization, we remain committed to sharing free and accessible resources to support all our members in their work protecting students from abuse and harm.

  • Please do not use the GSC Forum to advertise, distribute, or solicit information for personal or financial gain.  The purpose of the GSC Forum is solely to support and advance the GSC’s mission.
